Photology AIR – Contemporary Art Park
Tenuta Busulmone, Noto, Italy

Photology is proud to present the second edition of Photology AIR (Art In Ruins), in the new park for contemporary art, housed in the thirty hectares of Tenuta Busulmone, a few kilometres from Noto.

Drawing inspiration from the theme of “ruins” as a synonym for modernization, the exhibitions are set up in the restored open air spaces of a nineteenthcentury convent and in natural trails within the estate. The title chosen for the 2019 edition stems from a two year curatorial process identified by the environmental poster PreservAction. The explicit reference to “action for preservation” compounds the element of reflection towards the environmental and protection issues of the territory that has become increasingly urgent.

Prelude To PreservAction is composed of events, exhibitions and attractions that will be realised from 22 June to 3 November 2019, divided into various categories: Exhibitions, including the photographic project by Gianfranco Gorgoni entitled “Land Art in America” presently on exhibit in the ruins of the nineteenth-century convent and leading into the new installation “The World is Yours” by Georg Reinking. The exhibitions continue in the new covered area Belvedere Collectors “project room with a view”, also used as an art-book-shop and designed for the most demanding art collectors; on display are works by Gian Paolo Barbieri, Angelo Candiano, Mario Giacomelli and Jack Pierson. Naturalistic Trail induces the visitor to a “walking to art” activity in the evocative photo-botanical path of Francesca Gaglione and Paolo Uccello. To close the season in September, Kids In Action, a teaching laboratory in collaboration with the Municipality of Noto, inspire to bring young people closer to environmental issues. The project consolidates the objective of cleaning the Noto area by using the artistic language deriving from the recycling of plastic materials.
